4/17 Virtual Learning

New News!

Read the OB Newsletter!

We need your help in filling out this short survey to know what is working for you, and what is not. Today is the due date! This information goes directly to Dr. Taggert and myself. Please provide both positive and constructive criticism.

Our Old Bonhomme Parade will be on April 27th at 1:00! We will drive through Olivette in hopes to see as many students as possible. Here is the map and details of the parade. We are SO excited to see you!

Please have your child watch me read aloud The Book With No Pictures with me today. Read alouds are great for your child to watch! We are still adding to this folder so be sure to have your child access it for daily reading. Here is a QR code you can print for your child so they can scan and go directly to the folder. Here is the whole document to print for your child to access many different sites on their own with qr codes! Independence!

Here is a Pandemic Journal  you can print. Your child can work on this and keep as a memory.

Daily Morning Message:
Here is today's morning message for your child to watch!

Virtual Lesson Plans:
Here are this week's virtual learning plans. Next week's plans are almost complete. We are trying to create more video lessons for your child to watch throughout the week.

Social Studies:
Thank you for submitting your primary source for the time capsule. If you haven't, please try as this is going to resurface when they are seniors in high school to remind them of this time in their lives that will be in their "virtual textbooks." Here is the link to the time capsule project.

Zoom News:
Next week, we will zoom as a class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:00. Feel free to join when you can!

Click here to join all KG class and 1on1 meetings. Our classroom code is 218 083 2687 and the password will always be kgzoom.

For next week we will use a different form of sign ups. We are trying a google form instead. Your child can sign up for a meeting with me or our teacher assistant, Miss Layton. We will have your child read a book on RazKids on their appropriate level. Click here to sign up. Simply type in your name. Be sure to record on your end as well so you can remember and we will also send calendar invites the best we can to keep you informed.

Math News:
Math packets can be picked up at Old Bonhomme from 10:30-12:30 each day. You just drive through and ask for your grade level.

It is so great to see everyone on SplashLearn! Please login to www.splashlearn.com for 10-15 minutes a day if you can to keep your skills fresh!

Flipgrid News:
What did you think about the math lessons this week we recorded? Let me know! Here is our Flipgrid challenge page.

Here is a video to learn how to use Flipgrid. I am hoping for all KG friends to share! It is great fun and another wonderful way to connect with classmates and OB teachers!

Other News:

From Mrs. Kelley, our wonderful librarian:

Because we can't have the Scholastic Book Fair in the library this spring, we're going to host an online book fair instead!  Starting on Monday, April 20, you can order books online.  All orders will be shipped directly to your home and book orders of $25 or more ship for free!   Our library will receive a percentage of all sales which we'll use to buy books for the library next year.  This is a great opportunity to get books into the hands of your kids and raise money for our library--it's a win-win!

The link to the online book fair is https://www.scholastic.com/bf/obeagles
The last day to order is May 3rd.  Don't miss out on this chance to get affordable books for your children!
Please direct any questions to Mrs. Kelley at skelley@ladueschools.net.

Final Friday Thoughts:

KG Families,

Thank you for being patient with me as I figure out the best way to teach kindergarten virtually. It has been a fun, yet complicated and emotional adventure! In all honesty, it is also quite challenging with having three young children of my own. I wish I could zoom every day, all day, but it is simply not realistic. I am doing the best I can to connect with students and remember that the district is providing these lessons to meet the average kindergartener. It is very difficult to differentiate the learning in the virtual classroom. If you need additional activities or support, please let me know. I cannot help you unless you reach out. Thank you for your endless support and know I miss your child so much. This is a tough way to end such a beautiful year. I am thankful for technology that allows us to still stay connected the best we can.

Have a beautiful weekend!
Mrs. McGee
