Week 27

Please read the OB newsletter! Sign up for teacher experiences to help raise money for our students at OB. There is also information about ordering a yearbook and our OB Talent Show!

This week for our social skills lesson we talked about fair ways to play. We looked at these two students and talked about how the boy was sad because he wanted to play with the big dinosaurs. We brainstormed ways he could ask. We looked at our new poster and talked about sharing, trading and taking turns.

In math this week we finished up our sorting by attributes chapter and started our counting on unit. We are working on starting with a number and figuring out how many more we need to make ten.

In phonics, we are working more on hearing vowels in words and knowing that vowels have a short and long sound.

In reading, students are having reading playdates with three people. One student pretends to be the teacher and the other students listen to the story. We also learned some games we can play and on Friday, learned that we can act out the stories with gestures or our bodies.

In science, we are learning about force. We have learned that a force can be a push or a pull. Students have gotten their hands on many different toys (wagons, balls, silly putty, wheelbarrow) and seeing how they move. We have read many stories that show force as well.

On Tuesday, we had our Black History Assembly. We looked at our Living Museum displays that are up in the library from each class and some classes shared. Shout out to Jack and Celia for sharing in front of the whole school! They did an amazing job. Then, we honored Kisha Lee, our Ladue school board member. Our principals and 4th grade students shared about her accomplishments and we showed a video of pictures and clips of people sharing about Mrs. Lee and all her hard work she does for our school district every day. Thank you Kisha Lee!

More reading playdates!

During literacy centers this week, students continue to be exposed to print in various forms. They write, listen, read, and create words. I am working one on one with students to assess growth to share with you at conferences.

Every day we have choice time for 20-30 minutes. Some days we play inside and other days we play outside!

Enjoy this beautiful weekend! Get outside KG!
