The Final Days

It is hard to believe it is over. I am sitting in this empty, quiet classroom missing the chatter and laughter. Though it was apparent all of the students were ready for a break, we will all miss each other and always reflect on the good times that we had.  I will miss each of your kids dearly. This surely was a special year for me. As I was reading our final end of year poem yesterday, tears streamed down my face along with a few other KG friends. It was hard to say goodbye! I hope your child had an amazing year and will always have positive, loving memories of their time in KG.

This week we had OB family time where we met with our families and said goodbye to our 4th graders in our families.

At PE!

And music!

On Wednesday, we rotated through five centers for our end of year celebration. Students made hats, drew with chalk, did yoga, made butterfly symmetry paintings, and read books outside. Then, we went over to the park for lunch! It was a great way to wrap up our year.

We took last day pictures :) I was unable to print these photos, so you may want to so you can add it to your child's portfolio they brought home. Take a look through! It is fun to keep in your child's memory box for them to look back on later in life. You can also see how their writing progressed with all the writing samples.

Thank you to Jenn Tuttle for once again putting together a heartfelt gift. I love my scrapbook of all the kids writing and the tile with all the students pictures. It is so special to me and I will hold on to it forever.

Thank you to all the parents for your donations this year as well. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in helping to add more resources to our classroom.

On Thursday, we watched the OB Show Choir sing. They sounded beautiful. Shout out to Miss Ladue, our fabulous music teacher. Students can join in 3rd and 4th grade.

Butterflies

This week we continued to learn our Olweus Bully Rules. Then, we read the book Bully Beans. The book is about a girl who bullies others, all because her brother has been bullying her. Her classmates learn to stand up for themselves using their "bully beans" to give them strength and courage. They learned that being a bystander is not ok.

We had choice time outside this week because of the beautiful weather.

During reading, we are practicing fluency and comprehension. Students are practicing reading independently, then reading aloud to their partner. We continue to work in literacy centers!

In math, we are learning our coins and their value. We have even started to add coins together! Today, we played a fun game called Kahoot on the Ipads. The kids had a blast!

In writing this week, we finished up our creative stories and shared them with each other.

Mrs. G, with Vantage Credit Union, came again today and taught us about banks and saving.

We earned a Popsicle Party with our 100 SOAR tickets! The students watched Magic School Bus and enjoyed a cold treat.

Ask your child about releasing our butterflies this week! All five came out their chrysalis and we let them go :)

The last week we will have themed dress days! Don't forget to read the OB newsletter!

Monday - OB or Soar Shirts (SOAR Up Event)

Tuesday - Hometown Sports Team (Cardinals & Blues may play)

Wednesday - College T-shirt Day (Talk About Your College Experience)

Thursday - Vacation Gear Day
