Reflections and Calm Down Center

We have talked a lot since school began about strong choices and weak choices, and what that looks like in all areas of our school. This week, I shared with the class that when weak choices are made, sometimes I may have a conference with the child at choice time and use this reflection paper to help them think through he situation and what we will do next time to help us make stronger choices. If you see one of these papers in your child's folder, it is a great opportunity for you to reflect again with them at home so we can learn from all our choices. If I am very concerned about your child's actions and feel you need to hear a detailed description of what happened from me, I will contact you via phone or email.

We also learned about the Calm Down Corner. This is a nook where students may go when feelings angry or sad. There are different tools here to help a child when his or her emotions are escalated. We will continue to talk about various calming strategies to help a child deescalate and move to the calm or happy feelings.
