KG Love :)

On Thursday during our class meeting, I read Crabby Pants. We talked about how getting crabby is ok, because its a sign of feeling frustrated. I explained how sometimes I get frustrated both at school and at home and it is a normal feeling. However, we talked about how to deal with our frustrations and how we can calm down and reset when we're feeling crabby. We have a calm down desk in our classroom with lots of different types of tools to help students reset.

In our current math unit, we are learning about comparing sets and recognizing the difference between two sets. For example the difference between 5 and 7 is 2. This prepares students for understanding subtraction.

We practiced our independent and partner reading this week. We are working on using book talk. I modeled lots of statements with "I think", " I wonder" and "I notice." Students also practiced using these statements with their reading partner while reading.

This week we wrapped up our How To stories on Tuesday and Wednesday. We also talked a little about the Post Office. We learned about mailing a letter and how mailmen know where to deliver to. We watched a few videos that toured the post office facilities. Hopefully, someone in your family received their Valentine that your child sent in the mail!

We had so much fun celebrating Valentine's Day this week. We created cards for our fourth grade buddies in Mrs. Harrison's class. We visited them and delivered them their cards. We wrapped up our How To unit this week and students shared their stories with their 4th grade buddy!

Visiting 4H!!

Passing out Valentines!

Party time! A big thank you to Jenn Tuttle, Oliver's mom, who planned another wonderful party. Thank you to the parents and grandparents that helped out to make our party a success!
