Hibernation Day!

Social Skills: This week we dove into solving problems. We discussed how we need to calm down before solving problems, identify the problem without blaming others and then think of safe and respectful solutions.

In our morning class meeting today, we reviewed our class goals and reflected on how we each did. We also read the story Baditude and talked about how to turn a bad attitude into gratitude.

Hibernation Day: Today was such fun as we hibernated into our "dens" and "burrows." We maintained our normal schedule today but did all our independent practice in our sleeping bags.

We read to our partners on each other's sleeping bags

We created hibernation scenes with animals and drawing in their homes they hibernate in!

We learned more today about comparing numbers. We then played a Greg Tang online game on understanding how many more or fewer that you can find at https://gregtangmath.com/games.

Mrs. Arnold came on Thursday to teach us about "thinking win-win."

Choice time fun!

More hibernating photos! Sorry my camera is blurry in these :(

We had a visit on Thursday from Dr. Moshiri for Dental Health Month! We learned all about plaque and why we need to brush and floss daily.

We celebrated Chinese New Year on Tuesday!

In reading this week we practiced retelling stories across our fingers, making sure to include details such as who is in the story, where it takes place, and how characters are feeling.

We continued to work on our How To stories this week. We worked on writing introductions and creating a materials list before writing our steps with our key words: first, next, then, last. You will be seeing these sent home soon!

Tuesday and Thursday we had a special visitor come and help us use our bodies to reenact The Mitten. Every student was a character and we played it out in the gym. Be sure to ask your child what he or she was!
