Trick or Treat, KG is Sweet!

Second Steps Lesson: This week we learned about apologizing even if it is an accident. We role played and practiced what to say. "I am sorry. It was an accident. Are you ok?" We talked again about how this shows empathy.

Today we read Sorry I Forgot to Ask. We talked about how important it is to ask permission for things. We talked about how it is easier to ask for permission than ask for forgiveness. Lately, we talked about how sometimes adults will say no when we ask and we will be ok with that.

Phonics: During phonics, we worked on sounding out words from beginning to end. Students picked pictures and together worked on sounding them out to hear as many letter sounds as possible.

Theme: This week our theme was bats and spiders. We watched videos and read many books to learn about these animals.

Fall Party: We had a blast at our Fall Party. The party started with a delicious apple and caramel snack. Then, we made beautiful sun catchers and played some fun games. Students wrapped each other up like mummies in toilet paper!

Guided Reading Group: Students worked in small groups during center time on different reading skills and strategies.

NCADA Lesson: Mrs. Williams with the NCADA came and taught us an important lesson about friendship. We talked about teddy bear actions vs. porcupine actions. We hung these signs to remember to use our teddy bear actions.

Independent Reading/Partner Reading: Students continue to grow their reading skills by reading their books independently then switching to read books to their partners.

Reading Lesson: Today, we talked about when we need to go back and fix our reading. It is ok to reread! These are the things we discussed and I modeled.

Literacy Centers:

Outside Time: There was some beautiful weather at the beginning of the week! We took full advantage of spending some time outdoors and playing together.
