Apples Are...

Students brainstormed descriptive words using their senses to help them describe apples. We then wrote them into a bubble map organizer.

Pajama Day

The students earned 150 SOAR tickets in class to earn a pajama day! It was great fun!

Stretching Out Words

In Writing, we are working hard to use our letter sounds to stretch out our words. Students used whiteboards to practice writing CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words. 

Math Centers

We have started to work in math centers this week. Students work in small groups at centers to practice the skills taught during the whole group lesson. This way, I am able to pull small groups of students to work on differentiated skills.

Storybook Readers

Students are learning how to read a book, without knowing the words! Students story told a classic book to one another using transition words as they turned the pages and making sure their words matched the pictures. They also try and talk like the characters in the story.

Writers Workshop

We are working on writing narrative stories. Students have amazed me in their ability to draw detailed pictures and have started to stretch out their words to hear sounds within words. It is not important that they are spelling words correctly, but simply writing what sounds they hear. Spelling will come later as they are exposed to text and learn proper spellings. They are gaining more confidence each day we write!

Building Letters and Sight Word Poems

We have been building letters with sticks, working on proper letter formation. Also, students have been finding our sight words in poems on the SmartBoard. KG students have been super engaged and soaking up everything they are learning!
