Some of the literacy centers are: Independent/Partner Reading, Sight Words, ABC activities, Beginning Sounds, Theme activity, Writing, Listening to books on tape, iPad literacy apps.

Writing Partners
This week students have worked with their writing partner to help create a plan for their writing. Partners are also supposed to ask questions to help their peers add more pictures and/or words to their writing. We've been talking about how authors always have a plan and go back and add more to their stories!

Math Partners
Today we worked on the terms "greater than" and "less than." Students were paired together and had to each make a tower with connecting cubes and compare. They had to use the phrase "My 8 is greater than your 2" or "My 4 is less than your 6."

Choice Time
During choice time, students make a choice from four options in the classroom. This is much more than just play time. Students build social skills and problem solving skills. All students are encouraged to play with friends during this time. Ask your child about their choices during this time at the end of our days. Here is an excellent article from a kindergarten teacher talking more extensively about "choice time." http://learningattheprimarypond.com/blog/play-in-kindergarten/
